Piecemakers Quilting

The Piecemakers
meet every Tuesday morning
from 9:00-11:30 in Fellowship Hall. We make quilts for Lutheran World Relief and for local needs. Everyone is invited to join us--no sewing skills are required to pin and tie!
Don't forget to bring us your leftover fabric and sheets.

How you can help
We have a variety of tasks that are
required to produce our quilts:

Cut blocks
Arrange the blocks into pleasing patterns
Sew the blocks together to create the tops
Cut batting to fill the quilts
Measure, cut and iron backing for the bottom layer of the quilt
Lay out and pin the quilt tops, batting and backs together so that each quilt has a finished look complete with a border
Tie the quilts using yarn—two ties for each big quilt block, one per block for children’s quilts
Sew the border with a sewing machine
Pack and weigh the quilts for shipping

And, of course, we need someone to make
coffee and clean up afterwards—quilting is a thirsty job, and our 10:00 coffee break provides us with wonderful fellowship. If you’d like to sew at home, you can pick up packages of blocks that need to be sewn together to make tops. We can give you a quick lesson, and you’ll be all set to help! Drop by any Tuesday morning and we’ll tell you what to do to put together the quilt tops.
